オリジナルは、映画「ワイキキの結婚」の主題歌として、1937年、主演のビング・クロスビーが歌って大ヒット。 その後、エルヴィス・プレスリー主演の映画「ブルーハワイ」の主題歌としてリバイバルヒットした。 もともと美しいヴァース（導入部のメロディー）をもつ米本土製のハワイアン音楽だが、現在では、ヴァース部分はほとんど演奏されていない。
